Wire mesh for making gabions is hexagonal opening with the aperture of 80x100mm, the wire diameter of 2.7mm and selvedge wire of 3.4mm diameter. Woven wire gabions are cylindrical baskets made of double twisted steel woven wire mesh. Woven wire gabions filled with stones are used in river control and various emergency works. Sack gabions are supplied with steel reinforcing wires inserted during the manufacturing process to facilitate closing during installation. Treatment: Wire for making of gabions is electro galvanized. Dimensions and sizes of galvanized wire mesh gabions can be customized. Woven gabions get the name in contrast with welded gabions. Gabions can be made of woven wire mesh flexible twisted, they can also be made of welded mesh. Main differences: The opening types of the woven gabions are normally hexagonal with wires twisted, while the welded gabions are normally square opening or diamond opening. Processing involved: Woven gabions are made by twisting of wire, while welded gabions are made by welding of steel wire. Both are popular structure units for retaining, geogrid and reinforcing.
